Rasmala is a pioneer in private equity, launching one of the first regionally focused private equity funds in the GCC in 1999 - the Rasmala Fund LP. The Fund was successfully liquidated in 2007 returning 3.5 times capital to investors and an IRR of 22%.
Rasmala has recently launched Rasmala MENA Private Equity Fund 2 with a target size of USD 350 million. The first closing took place on November 30th 2008 and USD 120 million in commitments were received.
The fund will principally focus on mid-cap companies in sectors generally not well represented in the region’s public equity market.
